Connected Vehicle Program

In late 2019, the NFCID partnered with Applied Information, Inc. to become the first community in Georgia to approve and install Connected Vehicle Technology to intersections within the North Fulton area. The Connected Vehicle Program upgraded 55 district intersections with special technology designed to communicate with vehicles using the TravelSafely™ app providing them with audio cues such as “red light running” and “get ready for green."

​The technology encompasses all three connected vehicle communication platforms including: 4G LTE, Dedicated Short Range Communications (DSRC) and Cellular Vehicle to Everything (C-V2X). In just over six months, the Alpharetta Fire Department reports an 18% improvement in response times since the CV technology was deployed.
