CITY, CID HOST OPENING EVENT FOR WESTSIDE PARKWAY’S $2.3 MILLION COMPLETION

Auto Parade, Presentations Mark Opening of Road’s

Northern Section in Alpharetta

What: The North Fulton Community Improvement District (CID) and the City of Alpharetta are hosting a special event to celebrate the opening of Westside Parkway. Following a ribbon cutting and speakers’ remarks, the event will conclude with a parade of vehicles heading north on Westside Parkway to officially break in the new road. Westside Parkway will open to the public immediately following the event.

When: Monday, April 23, 2012, 3:00 to 4:00 p.m.

Who: Event speakers include:

• City of Alpharetta Mayor David Belle Isle

• North Fulton Community Improvement District (CID) Vice Chairman Moses Brown

• North Fulton CID Executive Director Brandon Beach

On-site interviews will be available with these representatives.

Where: The corner of Old Milton Parkway and Westside Parkway, approximately one-half mile west of Georgia Highway 400 in Alpharetta. The event will take place on the new section of Westside Parkway.

Directions: From Georgia Highway 400, go west on Old Milton Parkway approximately one-half mile. Then turn right onto the new Westside Parkway extension. The grand opening ceremony will take place on the new section of Westside Parkway, just north of its intersection with Old Milton Parkway. Event attendees are asked to park along Westside Parkway.

About the Project: After nearly 20 years of on and off construction, the completed Westside Parkway will provide the residents of Alpharetta, Cumming, Milton and Roswell with a much-needed alternative to Georgia 400 for local trips. This new section of road completes a grid system that provides North Fulton residents with greatly improved local access. With the opening, Alpharetta now has four main north-south arteries – Westside and Northpoint Parkways, Georgia 400 and Georgia Highway 9 (Main Street).
