North Fulton CID Celebrates 10 Years of Making an Impact

ALPHARETTA, Ga. (Aug. 20, 2013) – The North Fulton Community Improvement District (CID) is celebrating 10 years of investments in Alpharetta, Milton and Roswell. Founded in 2003 by a group of business leaders who wanted to create an even more livable North Fulton, the CID has been a stimulus for community improvements. Since its creation, the North Fulton CID has committed more than $16 million to create more than $81 million in transportation, planning and community enhancements.

The North Fulton CID has led the charge on several iconic projects in North Fulton: the Westside Parkway road and bridge expansion; the Mansell Road triple-left-turn lane; new right-turn lane at Georgia 400’s Windward Parkway off-ramp; and the northern extension of Westside Parkway. The most visible is likely the new landscaping at the four major Georgia 400 interchanges in Alpharetta.

Ahead for the North Fulton CID are even more impactful projects, which include the extension of Northwinds Parkway near the planned Gwinnett Technical College site and the reconstruction of Encore Parkway between the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater and Big Creek Greenway.

“We are extremely happy to say that we’ve helped advance the North Fulton community in very special ways through each of the projects the North Fulton CID has touched in the last 10 years,” said Kerry Armstrong, chairman of the North Fulton CID Board of Directors. “It’s all because of the diligent planning, extraordinary vision and constant commitment from all our partners who have been the linchpins to each project’s success. We’re grateful for the support we’ve received from North Fulton County, the Cities of Milton, Roswell, Alpharetta and so many community leaders through the years.”

Having completed each of the prioritized transportation and quality of life improvement projects listed in its initial “Blueprint North Fulton” master plan, which was created in 2008, the CID will hold steadfast to its commitment to bring positive change to the North Fulton community: currently near completion is the CID’s Blueprint 2.0 master plan, which will outline a new list of priorities and projects to guide CID investments through the next decade.
