Encore Parkway Bridge Recognized with Georgia ASHE Honor Award

The North Fulton CID and its engineering design firm, Arcadis, were recognized with a Georgia ASHE Honor Award for the Encore Parkway Bridge over GA 400. The bridge, which was completed in August 2017, was created as a centerpiece multimodal boulevard. The bridge was designed to match the existing visual identity of nearby infrastructure with hand-stained Tennessee fieldstone concrete molds. The bridge includes two travel lanes as well as bicycle lanes and sidewalks on each side with landscaped buffers and a landscaped median. The bridge was engineered to anticipate a future GA 400 expansion.

“We are thrilled to accept this award for Encore Parkway Bridge,” said Brandon Beach, North Fulton CID Executive Director. “This project was 10 years in the making and required collaboration between local and state governments, and several agencies and organizations. The result is a landmark bridge that is prepared for the future expansion of the area.”

The North Fulton CID broke ground on Encore Parkway in January 2016 and opened the bridge to vehicle traffic in November 2016, honoring an agreement with North Point Mall to have the bridge open for the holiday shopping season. The North Fulton CID cut the ribbon on the bridge in June 2017, with construction officially wrapping up in August 2017.
